My baby is 1

Oh my goodness where did the year go. So Jackson turned one on the 5th and I think that I'm still in denial about it. We decided that for his first birthday we should probably go back to South Dakota otherwise everyone is going to come to us or be sad that they could celebrate his first birthday with him. We made the wonderful flights home leaving Flint at 6 am on the 1st. I was really grateful for our early flight because Jackson slept through the whole thing and it allowed us to miss e giant snowstorm that was coming right at us. We made it to Sioux Falls with only a minor delay in Chicago (surprise surprise) Jackson was so ready to play when he woke up from the second flight and our family waiting for us was only too happy to oblige.

The next day was Jackson's birthday party. It turned out fantastic! We did a sports themed party complete with concessions of hot dogs, soft pretzels and nachos. Jackson had three cakes a football cake, a baseball mitt made out of cupcakes and a baseball smash cake just for him. Grandpa Mettler even made Jack his very own field goal post with his name on it! We had 39 people total attend with a lot of little friends and cousins too play with and who spoiled him rotten with birthday gifts. Still trying to find a home for some of his gifts.
Yeah I'm just that good!

Jackson and his buddies!

Jackson started walking the week before his first birthday. It started really slowly with only a few steps and a lunge to Dad and then back to Mom. Now we are off to the races! He doesn't want us to hold his hand anymore because he's a big boy and can walk on his own and the falls are gradually decreasing. I think we have only had two really bad ones so far.

At school they are starting to get him ready for the toddler room. They are trying to get him down to one nap a day and he's taking that nap on a cot not a crib. He transitioned to a crib pretty well but he is for sure a Lehr and does now want to give up that morning nap. I'm not really ready to push him to give up his morning nap either.

Something interesting  I have discovered about Jackson is that he does not like cake (white or chocolate) and he doesn't really care for ice cream either he would rather have some oranges or pretty much any other kind of fruit. Damn...who is this kid. With the sweet tooth that I have it surprised me that he didn't lunge at his cakes and devour them, instead he ate a tiny bit and decided that was enough. He does however like cookies so I guess he has a mini sweet tooth.

Overall he's still my little stinker and is keeping me on my toes constantly! I am looking forward to him moving up in school and watching him continue to grow and change.

My big boy!
