Flashback to the beginning of last month...sorry things have been crazy around here with little man getting over some sort of nasty cold and then well life so we are going to have a FLASHBACK POST! Let me start by saying that I love the 4th of July! I love how a community can come together and have blast with parades and grill outs and of course my favorite part fireworks. I don't know what my deal is, but fireworks and Christmas lights are like two of my favorite things ever!
This 4th of July it was a little different than our usual. There was no huge grill out with friends and family and we didn't drink ourselves silly. Instead it was a huge family day for the three of us. Jackson and I woke up early and got ready in our red, white and blue and headed out to find a spot for the 4th of July parade that they have in town here. Jason wanted to sleep in just a little bit longer so he joined us just before the parade started. We only made it through about half of the parade before Jackson got really tired and wanted to go home for a nap.
After his nap and a little lunch we headed to the park where their was a carnival awaiting us. Jackson was a little to small for any of the rides so we walked around. Not only was there a carnival, but they also had a craft show, a water park, local bands playing and a lot of different food vendors. I think that maybe next year Jackson will be able to enjoy a little more of what was out there, but for this year it was fun just to walk around (he really likes to people watch).
We then came back home and grilled out brats and had corn on the cob...very 'merican! Of course I was able to see some fireworks from my porch and front window, since we couldn't go out to the big show (way past Jack's bedtime). It was a great first 4th of July!
